La condizione che ha reso Venezia una potenza mondiale nell’epoca della Serenissima, è esattamente ciò che la rende disfunzionale nell’epoca moderna: la condizione di isola. L’acqua è paradossalmente la sua forza e il suo limite. Come nella metafora di Dante, essa si perde nel rispecchiarsi nella propria condizione.		The paradox of Venice is that the very condition which made Her a world power during the epoc of the Serenissima Repubblic: that of being an island, is the same condition which makes Her disfuntional as a modern city. Water is Her stength and weakness. Like in Dante’s metaphor, Venice is lost in the contemplation of Her own image.
